The Department of International Business at Soochow University was established in 1974 in recognition of the vital role that international trade plays in Taiwan’s economic development. For more than five decades, the Department has continuously evolved under the leadership and dedication of successive department chairs, developing a comprehensive organizational structure and academic system. To further enhance professional expertise and research capabilities in international trade and business, the Department launched its Master’s Program in 1997 and established the Executive Master’s Program in 2002, promoting continuing education, industry–academia collaboration, and professional exchange.

Recognizing the rapid changes in the global economic and trade environment and the increasing internationalization of business operations, the Department is committed to cultivating professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills required in today’s international business world. The curriculum places particular emphasis on developing students’ expertise in business and international trade, while also strengthening their foreign language proficiency and global perspective.

To better reflect its educational mission and distinctive academic focus, the Department was officially renamed the Department of International Business in August 2007. The Department received accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2017 and successfully reaffirmed its AACSB accreditation in 2022, demonstrating its continued commitment to excellence in business education and international standards.
