We expand international and cross-strait academic relationships proactively by utilizing all opportunities, and encourage the participations of our students to obtain experiences in international events. In the promotion of international and cross-strait academic exchanges, the department occasionally invites oversea scholars to give speeches or participate in seminars in Taiwan, visits short-term researches of our teachers to go abroad to universities oversea, provides international internships for students, promotes international volunteering services, conducts mutually academic visits, jointly hosts seminars, and initiated the summer program. In 2014, an academic exchange agreement was reached and signed by East China Normal University in Shanghai. Related events from the past decade are listed below:

Service-Learning Program

The cooperation with International Christian University, Japan, is the focus of the program.

2003

Ikuko Saito, a student of International Christian University, Japan, came to Taiwan and completed the program of study and service.


2005

Aiko Kobari and Yoshinobu Hokari, two students of International Christian University, Japan, came to Taiwan and completed the program of study and service.


2006

Wan-Chen Lee, a student of Department of Social Work, participated "2006 ICU-SU Service-Learning Model Program of SLAN”, hosted by International Christian University, Japan, and cohosted by Silliman University, Philippines.


2007

Miyagi Natsuki and Iwakata Rieko, two students of International Christian University, Japan, came to Taiwan and completed the program of study and service.

Yan-Ming Pan, Rou-Yu Chen, Jing-Wun Gao, three students of Department of Social Work, participated in the Community Outreach Program (COP) hosted by Petra Christian University, Indonesia. In addition to participants from Indonesia, South Korea, Nederland, Japan, and Hong Kong, it was the first time ever to host Taiwanese participants.


2009

Sheng-Huan Tung, Ko-Chun Chiao, and Ya-Han Chang, three students of Department of Social Work, completed study in Asian Rural Institute (ARI) through the intermediation of International Christian University, Japan.

Ko Ogino and Misa Omori, two students of International Christian University, Japan, came to Taiwan and completed the program of study and service.

 

 

 

Overseas Workshops

2009

The workshop of social work for teachers and social workers in China was jointly hosted by the Department of Social Work and Yunan University, China, along with other universities.

 

Summer Camp

  The camp was organized and conducted by the Office of International & Cross-Strait Academic Exchange, Soochow University. The participants are students of bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. programs from China.
