Normal years to graduate :  four years for undergraduates.

Students enrolled since 2013 need to complete 128 credits of course work, with 95 compulsory credits and 33 optional credits.

The curriculum of the department focus on solid basic knowledge, as well as flexible application, reasonable practice and overall linkage, to balance between theory and practice, and hope to inspire our students’ potential. The curriculum covers the grounds of theory, experiments and feature studies. Theoretical courses focus on the continuation of basic knowledge, and are weighted with equal importance as experimental courses; the experimental courses seek to cultivate our students’ interests in practical work and analyzing; and feature courses seek to inspire our students’ interests in both knowledge and development of physics, and set the basis for their future development. The details are as follows:

Theoretical Courses:

Theoretical courses aim to solidify the basic knowledge of physics, to serve as base knowledge  for further studies. It includes General Physics, General Chemistry, Calculus, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Applied Mathematics (I), Introduction to Modern Physics, Thermal Physics (I), Quantum Mechanics, and Optics (I), serving as the basic training for freshmen to sophmore students.

Experimental Courses:

Experimental courses are included in every school year, focusing on training the students to learn from their practice, to combine their theoretical knowledge with practical application, and to train them in basic laboratory skills. The freshmen will have General Physics Experiment, General Chemistry Experiment, juniors will have Physics Laboratory (I), including Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Thermal Physics experiments, sophmores have Electronic Laboratory (I), (II), and seniors have Physics Laboratory (II), mainly focusing on the two areas of Modern Physics and Optics.

Feature Courses:

Feature Courses mainly focus on cultivating the student’s interests in the knowledge of physics, it includes classes in Astronomy, Introduction of Optoelectronics, Computational Physics, Solid State Physics, and Material Physics, aside from others. In Research Projects, aside from basic physics training, the students will also be individually tutored, allowing students to actually participate in the research and
