Undergraduate Program

The Undergraduate Certificate program in Human Rights was established in 2004. Designed for students across all disciplines, this program offers an interdisciplinary approach to human rights, introducing students to the core principles and standards of human rights, and stimulating debate around students’ values and perspectives on contemporary human rights issues.

Students on the program benefit from the interdisciplinary composition of the class and academic staff. Courses run concurrently with the students’ major courses while gaining their degree, thereby preparing students to explore human rights issues from different perspectives. The program comprises compulsory and optional courses, covering gender, sexuality and human rights, international human rights law, human rights philosophy and transitional justice.
